Gena
Gena
is our Exam Room/Laboratory Team Leader. She attended Central Carolina Community College, graduating with honors
in 1983 with an Associates Degree in Applied Science. She is a registered
veterinary technician who has worked at Mayfair since 1983. Gena has
a special interest in hematology and cytology.
Gena has 2 daughters, one dog and one cat. Outside
of work Gena likes to spend time with her family and work out at her
local gym. |
Mary
Mary graduated from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia
with a BA in History. She soon realized that the job market was
not clamoring for history majors. Mary grew up on a farm and enjoyed
working with animals, so she then decided to pursue employment in
veterinary medicine. Mary currently has over 15 years experience
in the field, and has worked at Mayfair Animal Hospital since 1992.
She enjoys all aspects of her job but has a special interest in
hematology, cytology, client education and keeping the lab machines
in running order.
Mary is married with one child. She shares her home with two dogs:
a Chihuahua mix and a Labrador mix. |
Diane
Diane
graduated in 2000 from Central Carolina Community College with an
Associates Degree in Applied Science. Diane has two adult daughters and 2 grandchildren. Diane has 3 dogs: Thaila, a Rottweiler, Xena, a Miniature Pinscher, Shae, a mixed breed cutie.
She also has 4 cats: Oober, Tittles, Chopper, and Cuz. She enjoys working with cats who are "not so happy" to be here, ensuring that their visit is as quick and comfortable as possible. Outside work Diane
is an avid football fan, supporting the Carolina Panthers. |
Sally
Sally
is our Surgery Team Leader. She is originally from New York and participated in the Veterinary Technology
Program at Delhi College, New York. Sally has been working in the veterinary field since 1996. She enjoys working in the surgery department and strives to ensure the utmost safety standards and quality of care for our surgical and intensive care patients.
She is married and has a dog,
4 cats, and a 50 gallon salt water aquarium. Outside work
Sally likes painting, sewing, baking, camping, hiking and doing craft
projects. Sally and her husband have just been blessed with their first child, Aidan Christopher, in January 2008! Congratulations!

Renda
Renda
received a degree in Psychology with a minor in Exercise and Health
Science from UC Santa Barbara in 1998. She moved to North Carolina
in December 2003 to pursue a DVM degree. She is currently enrolled
at NCState to fulfill her prerequisite courses to apply to veterinary
school. She has 2 hound mixes, Haiku and Willow, and a cat named
Milo, “the Hound Terminator.”
Outside of work she enjoys volleyball, hiking, camping, snowboarding,
and travel. One of her personal goals is to travel through Europe,
Asia, and the rest of North America before she is 50 years old.
Renda enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but she is especially
fascinated by veterinary dermatology and the challenge of diagnosing
pets’ illnesses. |
| Johanna
Johanna
grew up in Chapel Hill, NC and received a degree in Biology from
Appalachian State University. She has quite the menagerie at home:
3 dogs, Peanut, Ladybug, and Tyler; 2 Sphynx cats, Aries and Winnie; 4 Manx
cats - Nin, Lizzie, Blair, and Harry; and 2 Domestic Short Hair
cats, Peaches and Jack. She also has 2 ferrets, Wiggles and Pounce.
When she is not tending to her many critters, she enjoys watching
movies, listening to music, and spending time with friends. She enjoys educating clients on the care of their pets and she likes getting down to the "nitty gritty" of veterinary medicine! |
Tammy
Tammy
was born in Anchorage, Alaska, where she lived until the age of 11.
She then moved to Cape May, NJ and eventually to Cary. She attended
Rutgers University, earning her bachelors degree in Animal Science
in 1999. She also attended graduate school at NCSU in Wildlife Biology
until 2001. Outside of work she enjoys long walks with puppies, mountain
biking, making jewelry, cooking, and going to the gym. She also has
quite a few pets at home: 2 dogs, Lydia and Irie, 3 cats, Rasta,
Abby, and Rocky, and an umbrella cockatoo named Ziggy.
What she likes best about working in veterinary medicine is the ability
to make a difference in the quality of a pets life through education,
care, and compassion. |
Erica
Erica
grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Cary in 2000. She
is currently enrolled at Central Carolina Community College in the
Veterinary Medical Technician Program in Sanford, NC. She enjoys
traveling, playing sports, spending time with family and friends,
and playing fetch with her cat, Milo. She also has a Chow mix named
Dottie. Erica loves veterinary medicine because she feels it is
the greatest reward to know that she is a part of helping sick pets
feel better. She enjoys helping pets get the best possible care. |
Janelle
Janelle was born in Kansas and moved to Waynesville, NC in 1990. She spent 15 years there before moving to Cary in 2005. She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technology Program at St. Petersburg College and will graduate in 2008. She is married and enjoys riding her motorcyle, running, playing bass guitar, and spending time with the youth at her church. She is an active member of Bikers for Christ. She has 3 pets including a whippet named Disco, a ferret named Layla, and a turtle named Ahab. Janelle enjoys being a technician because she is passionate about being a part of providing the top level of care to aid our furry/scaly/feathered friends. |
Michael
Michael grew up in Lincolnton, NC, and now lives in Raleigh. He is currently attending NCSU, majoring in Animal Science. After attaining his degree in 2009 he plans on attending veterinary school. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family, golf, and outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and rock climbing. He has a jack russel named Chester, a border collie named Major, and 2 cats, Jake and Little Bit. Michael enjoys veterinary medicine and working at Mayfair because he likes taking care of the animals, working alongside the doctors, and seeing clients smile. |
Alison
Alison has lived in Cary since she was 5 years old. She is currently attending NC State University, majoring in Animal Science. Outside of school and work, she greatly enjoys stand-up comedy. She comes home every day to a toy poodle named Shelley. She enjoys working in veterinary medicine because she loves meeting new people and their pets. |
Marianne
Marianne is from Winter Park, Florida. She recieved a bachelors degree in Animal Science with a minor in Biology from the University of Tennessee. She moved to Cary to be closer to family, and she plans to attend NC State Veterinary School. Her "baby" at home is one mixed breed dog named Norman. Outside of work she likes horseback riding, drawing, and art. She is drawn to veterinary medicine because she likes "saving the world, one puppy at a time!" |
Patty
Patty grew up in Queens, New York. She received her Accociates degree in Applied Sciences at Suffolk County Community College. She has a mixed breed dog named Jack, and a cat named Brinks. She has always had an affinity for animals, and after working in Manhattan for 12 years she decided to go back to school. She moved here in 2005, and joined Mayfair in 2008. She loves working in the veterinary field because every day you get the opportunity to meet new people and their pets.

Jennifer
Jennifer was born in Florida, but moved around frequently growing up because her father was in the Navy. She considers her “home” to be Syracuse, New York. She graduated with a degree in Athletic Training from SUNY Cortland in 2000, and spent 7 years as a Certified Athletic Trainer. She discovered that her true calling was to work with animals, so she went back to school in 2006 at Central Carolina Community College in the Veterinary Technician Program. She is now a Board Certified Veterinary Technician. She is married with 2 dogs named Zoe and “B,” and 2 cats named Guinness and Morgan. She enjoys veterinary medicine because there’s never a dull moment and there’s always something new to learn! |
