American Animal Hospital Association
AAHA
is an international association of more than 32,000 veterinary care providers
who treat companion animals. Established in 1933, AAHA is well known among
veterinarians and pet owners for its high standards for hospitals and
pet health care. Over 3,000 veterinary hospitals voluntarily participate
in the AAHA hospital evaluation program.
Mayfair Animal Hospital is proud to be one of only two veterinary practices
in Cary that are members of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
We gained accreditation following a lengthy application process, including
an on-site visit by a veterinary professional employed by AAHA who determined
that we were in compliance with the policies and standards established
by the Association. In order to maintain accreditation, we undergo periodic
review and additional on-site evaluations.
The AAHA Standards of Accreditation address the following areas:
| Client service |
Patient and staff safety |
| Dentistry |
Patient care |
| Emergency services |
Medical records |
| Examination facilities and equipment |
Pharmacy |
| Housekeeping and maintenance |
Radiology services |
| Human resources and leadership |
Staff continuing education and training |
| Laboratory services |
Surgery and anesthesia |
| Pain management |
|
The standards developed and published by AAHA are widely accepted as
representing those components of veterinary practice that represent high
quality care. AAHA standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark
for quality care in veterinary medicine. They are periodically reviewed
and updated to ensure that they remain consistent with evolving knowledge
and technology.
